Content Editor in FlippingBook Online

Product: FlippingBook Online

With FlippingBook Online Optimal, Advanced, and Team you can use our Content Editor feature which allows you to embed YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia videos and create links in your publications.

Below you can find the instructions on how you can:

Embedding videos using FlippingBook Online

Note! When you embed a video into your FlippingBook Online publication, you’re using content not hosted by FlippingBook. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that it complies with the GDPR rules.

To embed a video, first upload it to one of these services – YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia.

After that, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the list of your publications.
  2. Hover over the publication you want to embed your video into and click Customize.

  1. Click Content Editor on the left side of the page. After that, you will be transferred to the Content Editor page.

You can add your video here. To do this, you should follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the button Add video at the top of the Content Editor page.
  2. Insert your video link from YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia.
  3. Click Confirm.

You will then see a blue rectangle that indicates the area where the video will appear. You can change its size or position on the page by dragging the mouse.

Please, pay attention to the Video settings section located to the right of the publication.

You can paste your link and change the video settings there as well. It can be done in the section Video URL.

To copy the Video URL, open your video in Youtube or Vimeo and copy the URL of the video in the address bar of your browser.

If you have an account with Wistia, just open your video project there, open the video and copy its URL in the address bar of your browser at the top of the web page:

Once you’ve added the link, you can specify the Playback Mode for your video. It allows you to choose how your video will open in your publication. You have two options:

    1. Auto mode gives you the opportunity to play the video directly within your publication;
    2. Popup mode will open your video in a pop-up window.

For Auto playback mode, you can switch on two options – Autoplay and Start at.

Autoplay will start playing the video automatically a reader opens the page it’s on.

Start at will set the video to start playing at a specific time and not from the beginning. This option will work for Youtube and Wistia, but not for Vimeo videos.

Note! In some cases, your video will not work directly within your publication in the Auto mode.

Here’s when:

  • if you add the video with the sound on and open your publication in Google Chrome browser;
  • if you open your publication on a smartphone that runs iOS;
  • if you open your publication in Safari on a desktop;
  • if your video is located in the middle of a wide page;
  • if the height of your video is less than 144 pixels. Also, this parameter can change if you resize the window of your browser.

For the Popup playback mode you can switch on two options as well – Show preview and Start at.

Show preview will show a Youtube/Vimeo/Wistia thumbnail of your video in your publication.

Start at will set the video to start playing at a specific time. This option will work for Youtube and Wistia, but not for Vimeo videos.

You can always change the size of your video in the section Position and Size:

Once you have finished adjusting the size and the settings for your video, click Finish in the top right corner of Content Editor page, and FlippingBook Online will save the changes automatically.

In case you want to delete your video, just click Remove video at the bottom of Content Editor.

Adding and editing links in your publication

Once you create a publication, you can edit the links that FlippingBook Online extracted automatically or add new ones. All web, email addresses, and telephones that we find in your PDF are automatically converted into links.

To add a link, start with the following:

    1. Open the list of your publications.
    2. Hover over the publication you want to embed a link into and click Customize.

    1. Click Content Editor on the left side of the page. After that, you will be transferred to the Content Editor page.

You will be able to add your links there.

There are two types of links you can add to your publication – Web address and Page.

With Web address, when your reader clicks on the link, it will open in a new tab of your browser. If you specify an email address, then FlippingBook Online will try to open the email app and create a new message for the selected address. If that is a telephone number, then a call dialogue will open if you're viewing the publication on mobile.

With Page, clicking on the link will lead your reader to a different page of the publication.

To add a link, follow these steps:

    1. While in the Content Editor, click Add link at the top of the page.
    2. Choose Web address or Page and insert your link or indicate a page accordingly.

You can always change the size of your link in the section Position and Size:

You can also just click on the rectangle and drag any of the corners to change the size.

Once you have adjusted the size and the settings of your link, click Finish in the top right corner of the Content Editor page, and FlippingBook Online will save the changes automatically.

In case you want to delete your link, just click Remove link at the bottom of Content Editor.

We support links to websites, phone numbers, and email addresses.

If your link was added with the indication of a certain protocol, FlippingBook Online won’t change it.

If you don’t have any protocol in your link, FlippingBook Online will try to guess what kind of a link you've meant to create. For example, here is how your link will be identified:

- https://example.com – absolute Internet URL;

- mailto: test12@flippingbook.com – email;

- tel:+1-234-567-8901, sms:+1-234-567-8901 – phone number.
