To open your flipbook in the Editor mode, do the following:

  1. Go to the Flipbooks tab in your account.
  2. Hover over the flipbook where you want to add a video, link, or an image.
  3. Click the three dots button and choose the Editor (video, links, etc.) option:

This opens the Editor mode for your flipbook:

Now, let’s take a closer look at how you can add videos, links, and images to your flipbook.

How to add Youtube, Vimeo, and Wistia videos into my flipbook?

To add a video to the book, you should first upload it to one of these services – YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. If you’ll try to add a video from any other hosting service the Editor won’t recognize it and will give you an error message.

Next, you need to get a link to your video. To get a link, open your video on YouTube or Vimeo and copy the video URL from your browser address bar. If you have an account with Wistia, just open your video project in your account, open the video and copy its URL from your browser address bar at the top of the web page:

Now you are all set to add your video to the flipbook. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open your flipbook in the Editor mode
  2. Press the Video button at the top of the Editor page.
  3. This will open a popup dialog. Copy/paste your video link from YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia here.
  4. You can now adjust your video size and position. The blue rectangle with the play-button indicates the area the video takes on the page. To change the video’s position click on the rectangle and drag it with your mouse. To resize the video drag the blue rectangle by one of its sides.

Now, let’s take a look at the Video settings section located to the right of the flipbook:

Your video link is shown in the Video URL field. You can edit it if you want to replace the current video with another video.

The Playback Mode determines how your video is opened in a flipbook. Two options are available: Inline and Popup.

  • Inline mode - embeds the video directly into the flipbook page, so that it looks like a part of your page. There are two additional settings that you can use:
    • Autoplay -  makes your video to start playing automatically when the reader opens the page with it;
    • Start at - makes your video start at a specific time when played. This option works for Youtube and Wistia videos only.
  • Popup mode - when the user clicks on the video, it opens a near full-sized pop-up window where your video is played. Your flipbook will fade to the background. When the reader closes the popup, they will return to the flipbook. In this mode, you can enable the following settings:
    • Show preview - displays a YouTube/Vimeo/Wistia video thumbnail on the flipbook page.
    • Start at - makes your video start at a specific time when played. This option works for Youtube and Wistia videos only.

You can adjust your video size and position settings in the Position and Size section by typing the values manually. This is useful if you have several videos on the same page and want them to have exactly the same size:

To apply all the settings for your video, press the Finish button in the top right corner of the Editor page.

If you want to delete your video, press the Remove video button at the bottom of the Editor.

How do I create and edit links using the Editor?

Once you created a flipbook, you can edit the links that were extracted automatically, or add new ones. All web addresses, emails, and phone numbers found in your PDF are automatically converted into links.

You can add two types of links to your flipbook:

  • Web address - for this type of link, you can specify a webpage URL. When a reader clicks on the link the webpage will open in a new tab. It’s also possible to enter an email address. In this case, FlippingBook Online will try to open an email app and create a new message addressed to the specified email. If you enter a telephone number, then clicking on a link will bring up a call dialogue when your flipbook is viewed on mobile.
  • Page - for this type of link, you can enter a page number. Clicking on the link will take your reader to the specified page of your flipbook.

To add a link, follow these steps:

  1. Open your flipbook in the Editor mode;
  2. Press the Link button at the top of the page;
  3. Choose the Web address option or the Page option:

  4. Depending on the option selected in the previous step, insert the link to the website or indicate a page number.
  5. Adjust the link area. The link area is indicated by a green rectangle. To change the position of your link click on the rectangle and drag it with your mouse. You can also resize the area by dragging any of the green square sides:

    Alternatively, you can change your link area using the settings in the Position and Size section:

If you want to delete your link, just click the Remove link button at the bottom of the Editor.

How do I add images using the Editor?

You can add any image to your flipbook as long as it’s in .png or .jpeg format and doesn’t exceed the 50 Mb size limit.

There are two ways to insert an image:

  • Inline image - adds the image as a non-clickable part of the page, on top of your content. You can use inline images to replace outdated pictures in your book without replacing the whole PDF. Or you can also add a transparent .png image over some of the items in your catalog to indicate that they are currently “On sale” or “Temporarily sold out”.

    While inline images are non-clickable by default, you can add a link on top of it. Make sure you add the link after the image, though. Otherwise, it will take a higher position on the page and go over the link. Ordering matters here.

  • Pop-up image - adds a clickable version of the image that opens in the pop-up window every time you click on it. You can customize Pop-up images to not interfere with your content by disabling the Show preview setting. Pop-up images are great to show a high-quality picture of your item or display it from a different angle.

To add an image to your flipbook follow these steps:

  1. Open your flipbook in the Editor mode;
  2. Press the Add inline image or Add pop-up image button at the top of the Editor;
  3. Select an image from the folder on your computer and click Open.
  4. For Pop-up images indicate whether or not you want a preview to be displayed;
  5. Adjust the image area. It is indicated by a turquoise rectangle for the Inline image and by a red rectangle for the Pop-up image. To change the position of your image click on the rectangle and drag it with your mouse. You can also resize the area by dragging any of the rectangle’s sides. You can also change your link area using the settings in the Position and Size section:
  6. Alternatively, you can paste a direct URL to your image if it’s hosted online;

If you want to delete your image, just click the Remove image button at the bottom of the Editor.

It’s also possible to replace an image with another without deleting it. Just click the Replace image button and select the new image from the folder on your computer or paste a URL to a new image.

Note! We resize all images you add to the flipbook, making them smaller by default. This allows us to speed up the page loading process and improve the general user experience. If you would like to make it even better we recommend using free online tools for resizing your image before adding it to the flipbook.
