Can I have several custom domains associated with my account?

Product: FlippingBook Online

Yes, that's absolutely possible to set up Multiple Custom Domains in FlippingBook. The feature can be of great help when it comes to dividing your flipbooks into several categories or making it clear to which particular branch of your brand they belong.

For example, one of your flipbooks could be reached on catalogs.your-brand.com and the rest on newsletter.your-brand.com.

Are Multiple Custom Domains available in all plans?

The requirements to have one and several Custom Domains are similar. The feature is only available for the users of the Advanced Plan or higher. So if you already have an option to set up a Custom Domain it's possible for you to have Multiple Custom Domains as well.

Note! Enterprise Plan has 3 Custom Domains available by default, while Advanced and Team Plans only have one. If you'd like to purchase an additional Domain for your account, please, contact us and one of our sales managers will get back to you shortly.

The good news is that there’s no limit to the number of Custom Domains you can buy, so it’s absolutely possible to have an active Advanced Plan that has more Domains than the Enterprise one.

How do I set up the right Custom Domain for my flipbooks?

Alright, you’ve successfully purchased an additional Domain for your account and now you're wondering what to do next. Once it’s up and running you’ll notice a new button in the Upload PDF window. Clicking on it will open a drop-down menu with the list of all the Custom Domains you currently have. You can assign any of these Domains to your freshly created flipbook.

You can also do the same for the other flipbooks in your account:

  1. Open the Flipbooks tab in your personal account;
  2. Hover over the flipbook you would like to assign a Custom Domain to, and click on Share on the right;
  3. Click on the small gear icon located right next to the box with the public link;
  4. Select a new Custom Domain from the list and confirm the changes.

It’s also possible to set or change a Custom Domain in the flipbook preview page in your account.

Note! Please, keep in mind that a single book can only be associated with one Custom Domain. Hence it’s impossible to create one flipbook with several different Domains.

In the list of your flipbooks, a small pictogram right under each flipbook’s title signifies its Domain. By default, the icon only displays the first letter of the Custom Domain name, but it’s always possible to see the full URL by hovering over the icon with your mouse.

And if that’s not enough, you can simply set a filter to show only the flipbooks with a particular Custom Domain.

How does changing the Custom Domain affect my existing links?

Assigning an existing flipbook to a new Custom Domain breaks all the links associated with the previous Domain. If somebody tries to open the flipbook using an outdated link that still contains information about the old Custom Domain, a 404 error message will appear.

Any trackable flipbook links you create for individual readers will be affected as well, so be sure to notify your readers before applying any changes to the Domain name or send them an updated link shortly afterward.

What happens to my books when I delete one of my Custom Domains?

Deleting one of your Custom Domains won’t delete the flipbooks stored under it, but it will move them to some other Custom Domain in your account. If you have more than one additional Domain and would like to know where exactly your books will go, then we recommend changing the Domain manually.

Also, one or several of your Domains might become unavailable due to changes or malfunctions on your hosting provider side. In this case, your flipbooks will be automatically moved to one of your available Domains or reverted back to our online.flippingbook.com URL until the problem is resolved.

How to set up Multiple Custom Domain for the sub-users of my team?

If you've set up more than one Custom Domain and have a Team account or higher you can grant your users access to one or more Custom Domains when you invite them to join FlippingBook Online.

It is, of course, possible to edit Domain access later. Just click on the three dots located on the right side of the screen and select the Domain access option.

Note! Please, keep in mind that you have to grant the users access to at least one of your Custom Domains. Otherwise, you won’t be able to invite them to join FlippingBook.

If a user is granted access to only one Domain, every single flipbook they create will be automatically assigned to that particular Domain. This could be very useful if you would like your team members to work on some specific projects without risking that they upload flipbooks under the wrong Domain.

Let's suppose that a user has uploaded flipbooks to several Domains, and then you decide to revoke their access to one of the Domains. What will happen is that any flipbooks with that Domain name will become available to them only for reading.  This means they won’t be able to customize the settings, change titles, or replace the PDFs in the flipbooks, but will still be allowed to read them.

In addition to that, users can change the book’s Custom Domain setting on their end and make it available for editing once again:

  1. Open the Flipbooks tab in your personal account;
  2. Hover over the flipbook you would like to move to another Custom Domain and click on the Share button located on the right side of it;
  3. Click on the small gear icon located right next to the box with the public link;
  4. Select an available Custom Domain from the list and confirm the changes.
