• Tips and Tricks in the Content Editor

FlippingBook Publisher allows you to add links, videos, pop-up images and GIF files. However, there are several interesting possibilities in our Content Editor that may be useful to know.

Here are the main points were going to cover in this article:

Multi-select by dragging

If you have several objects (links, videos or images) in FlippingBook Publisher, you can select them all together by dragging. This is very useful when you want to make changes that apply to several objects. Here is how you can do that:

  1. Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button
  2. Select all the items you need and drag with your mouse where you want them to be placed.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts:Ctrl+A selects all objects. If you keep the Ctrl-key pressed down, and then click on objects, it will add/remove them to your selection.

Neatly align several objects

It is possible to align several objects pixel-perfect - horizontally or vertically by changing X/Y coordinates in the Content Editor. You can also make them exactly the same size, by changing width/height.

1. Let’s imagine you want you want all items to be aligned under a certain one:

  • Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button.
  • Select the item under which you want all the elements to be placed and check it’s X value in Link Properties. In our case it is 217 px.
  • Then multi-select all the objects you want to align and set their X value to 217 px.
  • Now all the items are placed exactly under each other.

You also can align several object horizontally the same way by changing the Y value to make them be located on the same level.

2. You may also want to change the size of several objects so that all your links will be of exactly the same size. That is possible by changing their width/height:

  • Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button.
  • Select the necessary item and check it’s W and H values. In our example W value is 168 px and H value is 226 px
  • Then press Ctrl-key down, and click on objects you need to select them
  • Set their W value to 168 px and H value to 226 px
  • Press Enter. Now all your object are the same size

Move objects quickly and precisely

It is also possible to move item(s) with keyboard arrows to 1 pixel up/down or left/right, or with SHIFT pressed down to move 5 pixels. For the final corrections, this is often more convenient than using the mouse.

  1. Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button
  2. Select the item(s) you want to move
  3. Now use keyboard arrows to move your items 1 pixel up/down or left/right or press down SHIFT button and use keyboard arrows move item 5 pixels up/down or left/right.

Arrange overlapping items

If you have two overlapping items on you page, e.g. a video and a link, then it’s not always clear which of those will be used when your reader clicks on the overlapping area. But it is possible to control this, by arranging these items. You can bring them forward and back with the right click.

  • Bring to Front - brings the selected objects to front. It is possible to play the video or open the link when you click on the overlapping area.
  • Send to Back - sends the selected objects to back. It is not possible to play the video or open the link when you click on the overlapping area.

For example, you want the video which is overlapped with a link to be played:

  1. Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button
  2. Select the necessary item and right click it
  3. Then choose the option Ordering > Bring to front
  4. Close Content Editor window to implement the changes. Now if you click on the video you can actually play it.

Now if you open Content Editor again and choose option Ordering > Send to back for the video, you will not be able to play it anymore, because it is now on the back layer and the link is to come first.

If you have several objects in your publication overlapping each other, and you want the one which is in the middle to become the first or the last one, you can use options Bring forward or Send backward.

  • Bring forward - brings one of your overlapping items to the first place.
  • Send backward - sends one of your overlapping items one layer back, e.g. if it was the first item, now it will be the second one to be shown.

For example, you have three pop-up images in your publication overlapping each other. And you want the middle one to be shown first:

  1. Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button.
  2. Select the middle image and right click it
  3. Then choose the option Ordering > Bring forward
  4. Close Content Editor window to implement the changes. Now the middle picture will be displayed in the first place.

Now if you open Content Editor again and choose option Ordering > Send backward for this image, it will displayed a middle one again, because it is moved one layer back.

Copy and paste several links from Excel

If you have a big number of links to add to your publication it is not necessary to add them one by one:

  1. Copy links from your Excel, Word or Notepad file
  2. Open FlippingBook Publisher and click Content Editor button
  3. Paste your links into Content Editor
  4. Then you can adjust and place your links where you want them to be using the tricks we described above.

Tip! You can also copy/paste links to videos
