The influence of media cannot be underestimated: it tells us what to wear, who to listen to, and even what to believe in. And it is much more noticeable when it comes to children, shaping entire generations and creating a distinct cultural code we carry throughout our entire lives.
The founders of the Children's Media Association (CMA) understand that better than anybody else. That’s why they set out to make a real impact on the industry by creating a strong, supportive educational community that would empower professionals to create high-quality children's media.
Starting as a small group of enthusiasts in 2004, this New York-based nonprofit organization has grown into a national force—with 900 members, dozens of online and offline monthly meetups and workshops, and an extensive library of resources for professionals across the industry.
Challenge and Search for Solution
Created as a place where people in the children’s media industry can connect, share experiences, and support one another, CMA conducts regular in-depth research, bringing insights into how media influences different audiences.
This information is invaluable—for content creators who rely on it to guide their work, and for CMA itself as it builds credibility as an industry thought leader. So the CMA’s Research and Insights team needed a way to present these materials in a visually appealing, easy-to-access format for members and anyone interested in learning more about the children’s media.
The organization also needed a simple way to share its materials widely—within the community as well as across a wider audience on platforms like LinkedIn and other social media.
Solution
Initially, the association used another flipbook software, Issuu, so they were familiar with the flipbook format and knew its advantages over a static PDF. But they wanted something more affordable and easier to use, and that’s where FlippingBook came in.
CMA is a place for people to connect and learn about kids' media from a thoughtful perspective. That's why FlippingBook has been so useful—it’s a platform that makes information digestible, accessible, and interactive.
FlippingBook proved to be exactly what the CMA needed: a powerful, intuitive platform that delivers results quickly. The association uses it to display its research materials on the website, and they have had a great experience from the start.
We’ve found the interface to be super smooth, clear, and simple when preparing a PDF for upload to our site.
With website embedding and a vast gallery of ready-made designs, CMA can publish new research almost instantly—confident that it will look professional and be easily accessible on any device. And since the reports occasionally require tweaks, the ability to update the content without re-embedding the flipbook proved to be useful, too.
We love the ability to upload a new PDF to replace an old or outdated flipbook and have it reflected live on our website in minutes.
Accessibility was another important factor. As a nonprofit committed to serving all visitors, CMA wanted its materials to be both interactive and accessible. With FlippingBook, they can now include a special accessible PDF version of each report. Additionally, the FlippingBook viewer is ADA-compliant, ensuring their insights are barrier-free and accessible to a broad audience.
